Pergolas
Bioclimatic pergola: benefits and how it works
A bioclimatic pergola is an aluminium structure with an adjustable louvred roof. It lets you adjust shade and ventilation and close the roof against rain. It suits terraces used all year.
The principle
Aluminium louvres pivot from horizontal to vertical. Closed, they form a drained roof; tilted, they filter sunlight; open, they let hot air escape. Operation is motorised.
The benefits
Thermal comfort through shading, year-round terrace use, contemporary design, low maintenance of lacquered aluminium and the option to add LED, sensors and side closures.
Points to watch
Plan a suitable base (slab, footings), water drainage through the posts, power supply for the motor and, depending on the municipality, authorisation steps. Terrace orientation influences louvre angle and side-closure choices.
