Thermal insulation of aluminium windows: what really matters
In short
Aluminium conducts heat: an insulating window combines a thermal-break profile, suitable double glazing and an airtight installation. To insulate a sliding glass wall, it is the whole assembly that counts, not a single element.
The profile: thermal break
An insulating strip separates the inner and outer walls of the profile and breaks the heat path. This is the key difference from a cold series.
The glazing
Double glazing limits heat loss; solar-control or tinted glass reduces solar gains on exposed façades.
Installation and sun protection
Installation with careful shimming and sealing prevents air leaks. A roller shutter or exterior blind completes insulation in summer and winter.
